OTA for CM13

Yes you read read that absolutely correctly OTA Updates for CyanogenMod 13 for Gionee Marathon M3. Last few weeks I have been working hard to provide OTA updates to Gionee M3 users. I tried a couple of alternative apps using which I could have sent OTA updates but none of them was as good as CM Updater, so I decompiled CMUpdater.apk and looked into the code, after lots of reading and googling I found a post by Julianxhokaxhiu about "How the CyanogenMod OTA server works and how to implement and use ours". It was quite fascinating and I mean really great work by Julianxhokaxhiu. After loads of bug fixing I finally got Updater Server working fine. So that means OTA for CM 13 for Gionee M3 is now possible "hurray!!". I am done with recompiling apk and I will be updating the download link here soon. So keep waiting, it won't take long.

For those who are wondering what in the world are OTA updates? An over-the-air update is the wireless delivery of new software or data to mobile phones and tablets. Wireless carriers have traditionally used over-the-air updates to deploy firmware and configure phones for use on their networks. The initialization of a newly purchased phone, for example, requires an over-the-air update. With the rise of smartphones and tablets, carriers and manufacturers have also turned to over-the-air updates for deploying new operating systems to these devices. Or in really simple words you can get rom updates within your mobile phone without having to look at my blog again and again.

Installation procedure is pretty simple for those who are known to rom flashing, the zip provided below is flashable so go ahead flash it.

Install Instructions:
1. Reboot to recovery
2. Select Install
3. Now navigate to Updater-CM13_M3.zip
4. Swipe to confirm Flash.
5. All done! Reboot system and enjoy.

Fix storage for non emulated / SdCard Default

Everyone of you was pretty excited when first MarshMallow rom was ported to our device, but also disappointed to know that we can't use sdcard as default storage and in order to do so you'll have to wipe your sdcard. Well that was so much to ask for and many went back to Lollipop roms where sdcard was default storage. Since then some of out great developer Hiếu and Manjunath Yashu were working hard since then to make a fix for this serious issue and not so surprisingly (because I don't doubt their capabilities) they came out with a patch and shared with us. This patch is personally tested by me and works perfectly well, so just follow my lead and you are good to go.
So today I will be sharing this patch and install instructions to Fix storage for non emulated/SdCard Default.

2. Reboot into Recovery
3. Install the zip provided below
4. Reboot SYSTEM

Congratulations your storage has been fixed now, enjoy your sdcard as default.
